On March 15, H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai attended the launch of the China pavilion at Maltabiennale.art 2024 and delivered remarks. Over 100 guests were present including Dr. Owen Bonnici, the Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and local government of Malta, Prof. Jo-Etienne Abela, the Minister for Health and Active Ageing of Malta, Mr. Mario Cutajar, the President of the Maltabiennale.art, diplomatic envoys in Malta, Ms. Yuan Yuan, the director of the China Cultural Centre and friends from all walks of life.

Ambassador Yu said in his speech that the China pavilion opens a window for Chinese culture. Chinese culture has always valued "harmony in diversity" and believes that each civilization has its own unique charm and profound heritage. As our world today is facing various challenges, whether we are heading to progress or regress, prosperity or conflict, depends largely on how we view and deal with the differences between civilizations. To this end, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, advocating that different civilizations and nations should live in harmony, communicate with each other, and develop together. Only in this way can we cope with our common challenges, achieve common security, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Yu added that the Biennale is a good start for the people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Malta this year. The Chinese side looks forward to more cultural exchanges and stronger people-to-people bonds with Malta in the years to come, adding colors to the canvas of the bilateral relations.

Maltese guests said that Malta and China have enjoyed longstanding friendship, and the China pavilion at the Biennale not only provides a window for the Maltese to understand Chinese culture, but also further enhances the relationship between the two countries.
