Mr. Jiang Jiang, born in May 1965, is a native of Liaoning Province. He studied at Capital Normal University in Beijing, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature, and the University of Kent at Canterbury, where he received a master’s degree in international relations.
Mr. Jiang Jiang joined China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA) in 1986. Over the past thirty years, he has served as division director of the Department of Translation and Interpretation of MFA, division director and counselor of the Central Foreign Affairs Office(1997--2001), counselor at China’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York(2001--2004), deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(2004--2006), counselor of the Information Department of MFA(2006--2007), and deputy director-general and director-general of the Department of Translation and Interpretation of MFA(2007—2013). He was China’s Ambassador to Lebanon from April 2013 to May 2016 and arrived in Malta in June 2016.
Mr. Jiang Jiang is married and has one daughter.
