On 22 July , H.E. Ambassador Yu Dunhai attended the unveiling ceremony of the replica of Terracotta Warriors presented by Xi'an Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism to the Chinese Garden of Serenity in Santa Lucija. More than 100 guests including President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Deputy Director General of Xi'an Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism Mr Zhao Feng, Mayor of Santa Lucija Ms Charmaine St John and Director of the China Cultural Center in Malta Mrs Yuan Yuan presented.

Ambassador Yu said that the replica of the terracotta warriors presented today is the epitome of the long and splendid history and culture of China, and reflects the traditional friendship between China and Malta across time and space. Local citizens are welcome to appreciate the Terracotta Warriors in this garden and experience Chinese culture. At the same time, the Chinese side looks forward to carry out more people-to-people and cultural exchanges with the Maltese side to enhance mutual understanding and promote greater development of bilateral relations.

The guests quoted the ancient Chinese poem "As the bright moon shines over sea, from far away you share this moment with me", saying that although China and Malta are far away, they have established an excellent bilateral relationship based on equality and mutual benefits. The terracotta warriors will uphold the friendship between China and Malta which will last forever.
