H.E. Mr. Chai Xi, the New Chinese Ambassador to Malta, paid an Inspection Visit to China Cultural Centre in Malta
2007/04/18

On April 18th, 2007, the new Chinese Ambassador to Malta, H.E. Mr. Chai Xi and his wife, paid a special inspection visit to China Cultural Centre in Malta.

Accompanied by Mr. Zheng Hao, Director of China Cultural Centre in Malta and the working staff, Mr. Chai Xi and his wife were shown around the major establishments in the Centre, such as the art gallery, the multimedia language lab, the library, the cinema and the well-equipped multi-functional hall.

Mr. Chai commented favorably the performance of the Centre in the past few months and put forward some insightful proposals and ideas after hearing from Director Zheng a brief account of the Centre's work and the future plan. Ambassador Chai also pointed out that the sound China-Malta political relations constitute an important foundation for bilateral cultural exchanges. Cultural Centres in general, as windows through which an image of a nation can be projected tremendously, play a significant role in boosting the soft power of a nation. Mr. Chai also made a full analysis of the development traits of both the Chinese Cultural Centres and the equivalent foreign cultural institutes stationed home and abroad. He went on to say that China Cultural Centre in Malta should bring into full play the advantages and strengths of its own, enhance its cooperation with the local media and organizations and explore new ways and channels of conducting cultural activities upon conscientious research. Mr. Chai also pledged to the Centre his all-out support and that of the Chinese Embassy in Malta.
